Proposed UCR fees announced by FMCSA
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced the proposed United Carrier Registration (UCR) fees for 2021 and 2021, and it means good news.
FMCSA is proposing reductions in the annual registration fees the states collect from motor carriers, private motor carriers of property, brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies for UCR in 2020 and 2021.
The proposed fees for the 2020 registration year would be reduced below the 2018 registration fee level by 12.82 percent.
The proposed fees for the 2021 registration year would be reduced below the 2018 registration fee level by 4.19 percent.
The reduction of the current 2019 registration year fees would range from about $2 to $1,629 per company, depending on the number of vehicles owned or operated by the company. Leasing companies and brokers pay in the lowest fee bracket.
A notice of proposed rulemaking is expected to be posted in the Federal Register in the next few days.
