Posting updates required for 2025 – Is your workplace impacted?
In 20 states, updated labor law posters need to be on the wall in January. They include new postings as well as those that have been revised with a mandatory change because of a regulatory change
States with mandatory labor law posting changes in January
Here’s a look at the new and revised postings needed in each state:
Alaska: Minimum wage poster showing the new rate of $11.91 per hour.
Arizona: Minimum wage poster showing the updated rate of $14.70 per hour.
California: Minimum wage posting showing the 2025 rate of $16.50 per hour; Whistleblowers Are Protected posting containing a model list of rights and responsibilities; Workers’ Compensation posting that includes information about an injured employee’s right to consult a licensed attorney. Other changes that may occur include a Healthy Workplaces/Healthy Families Act posting update with information about using sick leave when a family member is a victim of domestic violence and a Discrimination posting revision to note that protections cover discrimination based on a combination of characteristics.
Colorado: Colorado Overtime & Minimum Pay Standards Order (COMPS Order) with the 2025 rate of $14.81 per hour.
Connecticut: Minimum wage posting with the 2025 rate of $16.35 per hour; Updated Paid Sick Leave posting noting that the law applies to employers with 25 or more employees.
District of Columbia: Paid Family Leave posting showing the new maximum benefit amount of $1,153.
Illinois: Your Rights Under Illinois Employment Laws posting showing the 2025 minimum wage rate of $15 per hour; Job Discrimination posting with new protections relating to family responsibilities and reproductive health and welfare decisions; New Worker Freedom of Speech posting explaining worker protections relating to mandatory participation in employer-sponsored meetings.
Maine: Minimum wage posting showing new rate of $14.65 per hour; New Paid Family and Medical Leave posting explaining employee rights under the law. The Regulation of Employment posting may be updated with leave information.
Massachusetts: Paid Family and Medical Leave poster with new maximum weekly benefit amount of $1,170.64; New Veterans’ Benefits and Services posting for employers with 50 or more employees.
Minnesota: Minimum wage posting with the new rate of $11.13 per hour; New employer-sponsored meetings posting explaining employee rights relating to required meetings about religious or political matters.
Missouri: Minimum wage posting with the $13.75 per hour rate for 2025.
Montana: Minimum wage posting with the $10.55 per hour rate effective January 1 (displaying the minimum wage posting is optional).
New Jersey: Minimum wage posting with the 2025 rate of $15.49 per hour.
New York: Minimum wage posting with the new 2025 rates of $16.50 per hour in New York City, Westchester, and Long Island and $15.50 per hour in the rest of the state.
Ohio: Minimum wage posting showing the $10.70 per hour rate in effect as of January 1.
Rhode Island: Minimum wage posting with the 2025 rate of $15 per hour; New Veterans’ Benefits and Services posting for employers with 50 or more employees.
South Dakota: Minimum wage posting update to show the 2025 rate of $11.50 per hour (displaying the minimum wage posting is optional).
Vermont: Minimum wage posting with the new rate of $14.01 per hour in effect on January 1.
Virginia: Minimum wage posting showing the 2025 rate of $12.41 per hour (displaying the minimum wage posting is optional).
Washington: Paid Family Leave posting with the 2025 wage replacement cap of $1,542 per week; Minimum wage posting showing the 2025 rate of $16.66 per hour (displaying the minimum wage posting is optional).
Key to remember: A number of mandatory state posting updates are in effect as of January 1, 2025. Make sure the revised posters are displayed to maintain compliance with posting requirements.
