IRP, IFTA jurisdictions issuing temporary waivers in response to coronavirus

International Registration Plan (IRP) and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) jurisdictions around the country are issuing temporary waivers in response to the pandemic COVID-19 emergency.

- Alabama: Temporary waiver of IRP and IFTA requirements for commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) engaged in interstate emergency relief efforts. There are also extensions for obtaining March 2020 motor vehicle registrations and paying property taxes on vehicles and certain penalty charges.
- Connecticut : Temporary waiver of IRP requirements for CMVs entering the state.
- Kentucky: Temporary waiver of hours of service, weight station stops, permits fees for overweight and over-dimensional vehicles, and registration and licensing requirements until April 12.
- Maine:Requests that no enforcement action be taken against vehicles with expired IRP or IFTA registrations for the next 30 days.
- Maryland: Asking enforcement personnel to refrain from taking action against motor carriers with apportioned vehicle registrations expiring on or after March 12, until further notice.
- Nevada: All DMV offices will be closed beginning on 5 p.m. on March 20. Additionally, Nevada has issued a temporary waiver of IRP and IFTA requirements during the duration of the emergency or until April 15, whichever comes first.
- New Mexico: Temporary waiver of permits fees for overweight and over-width vehicles and of registration and licensing requirements until April 6.
- Texas: Temporary waiver of registration and licensing requirements, normal weight and width restriction, and hours of service until April 12.
- Virginia: Temporary waiver of registration and licensing requirements and a waiver of normal weight and width restriction until April 12.
