HAZMAT--Kick out unwanted guests!
At Thanksgiving, it’s not always easy to send away the third-removed cousin that wasn’t invited to the party. However, it’s pretty easy to alert the right people when unwanted intruders try to interrupt your hazmat processes!
Security detail
Generally, all employees need to ensure hazmat is secure. Your job is to obey all security-related work activities, processes and procedures. In addition, you may need to provide feedback and suggestions on ways to improve security in your facility. In any case, you need to help your company avoid all risk. See how, below.
Think about it
The issue
Cargo theft can happen during any part of the transportation process, but security in the loading and unloading processes are particularly important. It’s when cargo is most vulnerable.
The action
Use common sense and good judgment when you assess the threat potential of any suspicious activity. Depending on the situation, be ready to report suspicious activity you observe to:
- Your supervisor or manager,
- The safety director, or
- A local law enforcement official or fire department.
