Marijuana is by far the most commonly used illegal drug. While the drug is legal for medical use in 37 states and recreational use in 23, it remains illegal under federal law. The widespread legalization of the drug under state law may confuse workers when it comes to workplace policies. In states where it is legal, employers can prohibit employees from using it at work (although there may be restrictions on workplace drug testing). Make sure your workers are familiar with your workplace drug and alcohol policy and understand your expectations.
