The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) relied heavily on off-site audits during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020/2021. With on-site audits roaring back, auditors can uncover more of the most serious types of violations, known as “acute” violations, which can affect a company’s safety rating. Motor carriers must be prepared for an in-person audit, and verifying compliance with the “acute” and “critical” regulations is a good place to start.
