Navistar recall for engine issue could affect 43,000 vehicles
A Navistar recall for an engine issue could affect more than 43,000 trucks and buses, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Navistar announced the vehicles equipped with Cummins B6.7 diesel engines with fuel module option numbers FS90301 or FS90453 are subjected to the recall. The electric fuel heater within the fuel module may overheat and cause plastic in the fuel heater to melt and potentially catch fire or stall the engine.
The vehicles affected include:
- 2017-2020 International DuraStar and WorkStar trucks,
- 2018-2020 IC Bus CECB,
- International HV and MV,
- 2018-2019 IC Bus 1300 FBC and HCCB,
- 2019-2020 IC Bus TCCB
- 2017-2020 IC Bus CESB
Cummins will notify affected owners to remove the fuse for the fuel heater and replace any fuel heater showing signs of damage or fuel leakage with a temporary cavity plug. Customers will then be re-notified once a final remedy is announced.
Owners seeking additional information may contact Cummins customer service at 1 (800) 286-6467, Navistar customer service at 1 (800) 448-7825, or go to safercar.gov. The recall was expected to begin in April.
The recall number for the first five models listed above is 19V216000 and 19V217000 for the IC Bus CESB model.
