Each state manages conveyor safety differently. Use the chart below to determine if additional requirements apply to your operations.
Note: The International Building Code (IBC), which establishes industry standards for building systems, has been incorporated into state and local building codes in 48 states (minus Ohio and Arkansas) and the District of Columbia. The IBC in turn incorporates by reference various year versions of ANSI/ASME B20.1, Safety Standard for Conveyors and Related Equipment. ANSI/ASME B20.1 includes requirements not only for the design, construction and installation of conveyors and conveying machinery, but also for the operation and maintenance of such machinery. Therefore, this standard may apply to your operations, even if building codes generally do not.
