Driving ahead: FMCSA's safety rating proposal continues to move forward
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) became aware of several reports and studies that are relevant to its proposed changes to the safety rating process.
FMCSA disclosed in a notice of data availability (NODA) a list of reports and studies that may be used as it moves forward in developing a proposed or final rule for a new safety fitness determination (SFD). Stakeholders can still comment on the newfound materials, even though the comment period for the SFD’s advanced notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) ended November 29, 2023.
However, comments are limited to relevant information pertaining to the reports and studies. Any submissions on other matters will not be considered by FMCSA.
