Enrollment and registration in the E-Verify system

- There are 10 steps in the enrolling process that should be followed for successful company enrollment.
- There is no limit to the number of users that can be registered to an enrolled employer.
Enrollment in E-Verify consists of the following steps:
1. Visit the enrollment website and accept terms. Users must read and agree to the terms explained before they may continue.
2. Set up the Enrollment Point of Contact account.
3. Determine your access method. The access methods include:
- Employer,
- E-Verify employer agent,
- Corporate administrator, or
- Web services access (for employers or for E-Verify employer agents).
E-Verify will guide the user through four questions to help determine which access method is right for that particular company.
4. Select the employer category. Designate if the company is a federal contractor with or without the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) E-Verify clause or a federal, state, or local government organization.
5. Enter company information. Enter company details, including:
- The company’s name,
- The parent organization,
- The physical verification location,
- The company’s mailing address,
- The employer identification number (EIN), and
- The total number of employees.
6. Provide hiring site information. Indicate the number of hiring sites that will be participating in E-Verify. A company can choose which sites will participate, but must use E-Verify for all newly hired employees at each participating site.
7. Register E-Verify program administrators and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signatory. Register as many program administrators as needed. After enrollment, program administrators can register general users as well as additional program administrators.
8. Review information. Any necessary changes should be made before the user certifies and submits enrollment.
9. Agree to the MOU. The MOU explains a company's E-Verify obligations. Indicate whether you agree to the terms.
10. Print a signed MOU. The enrollment confirmation page confirms that E-Verify has received a company’s enrollment information. Users should print a copy of the MOU that was electronically signed and share it with the company’s human resources (HR) manager, legal counsel, and other appropriate staff.
Registration on E-Verify
After a company has enrolled in the E-Verify program, program administrators may register general users and additional program administrators at any time after completing the E-Verify tutorial. Registered users create cases in E-Verify. There is no limit on the number of users an enrolled employer can register.
When registering a new user, the program administrator may accept a system-generated ID or create a custom user ID. The program administrator then creates a temporary password, which must be given to the new user. These E-Verify users must comply with the MOU, complete the E-Verify tutorial, and pass the knowledge test.
Most enrolled companies have different people who use E-Verify to create cases. There is no limit on the number of users an enrolled company can register to create cases.
