Security plan training requirements
['Hazmat']

- Hazmat employees must be trained on security awareness and in-depth security training.
In-depth security training requirements
If your company is required to have a hazmat security plan, then every hazmat employee needs to be trained on that plan and how to carry it out.
This training should cover:
- Company security objectives,
- Organizational security structure,
- Specific security procedures,
- Specific security duties and employee responsibilities, and
- Actions to be taken in the event of a security breach.
Security awareness training
Every hazmat employee needs to go through security awareness training. For new hires, this training must happen within 90 days of starting the job.
The goal is to help employees understand the security risks involved in transporting hazardous materials and learn ways to improve security during transportation. It also includes guidance on how to spot potential threats and respond appropriately if something seems suspicious or goes wrong.
