Some employers are partially exempt from keeping injury and illness records, either because they have 10 or fewer employees company-wide, or because they fall into an industry code (NAICS) that OSHA has exempted. This means these employers do not have to keep OSHA injury and illness records unless asked to do so in writing by OSHA, the BLS, or a state agency operating under the authority of OSHA or BLS (which is very rare).
