New Hampshire law requires employers with 15 or more employees to form safety committees (“joint loss management committees”). The committees must:
- Include representation for the employer and for employees (the exact number of committee members depends on the number of employees);
- Review workplace accident and injury data to help establish safety goals and objectives;
- Meet on a regular basis (at least quarterly);
- Develop and execute workplace safety and continuing safety education programs; and more.
Committee members must be trained in workplace hazard identification and accident/incident investigation sufficient to ensure they are able to carry out the committee’s responsibilities.
Additionally, safety committees for public school districts, administrative units, and charter schools must include training and protocols for employees to follow in the event of workplace violence.
