Summary
This guide was developed to help owners and operators of facilities that store or use oil, as well as other interested stakeholders, to better understand the federal Oil Pollution Prevention regulation (40 CFR 112). If you own or operate a facility that stores or uses oil, this guide will help you to determine whether the regulation applies to you.
Certain facilities that store and use oil are required to prepare and submit plans to respond to a worst-case discharge of oil and to a substantial threat of such a discharge. EPA has established regulations that define who must prepare and submit a facility response plan (FRP) and what must be included in the plan.
