An individual’s medical status, including the results of medical tests or procedures, is protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Because of this, an employer cannot ask a job applicant to answer medical questions, take a medical exam, or submit to alcohol testing before an offer of employment has been made to the applicant.
