FAQ
When terminating a salaried-exempt manager whose last day will fall in the middle of a pay period, does the employer have to pay the full week’s salary?
No. Unless there’s an employment contract or agreement in place, the manager would only need to be paid for hours worked in the final week of employment. Under federal law, an employer is not required to pay the full salary in the initial or terminal week of employment, or for weeks in which an exempt employee takes unpaid leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
