Yes. A dust mask or filtering facepiece is considered a negative pressure particulate respirator and OSHA’s Respiratory Protection standard at 1910.134(f) requires that negative and positive pressure tight-fitting respirators must be fit tested before the wearer uses them on the job. Manufacturers of dust masks offer kits especially designed to perform fit tests on their respirators. Contact your manufacturer for more information.
