With regard to required safety training for new hires, a breakdown of required general industry OSHA training can be found in our Required General Industry OSHA Training At-a-Glance table. All sections listed with an asterisk (*) next to them have annual training components.
This training applies to all types of facilities, but would depend on whether the circumstances apply to your company/employees. For example, if no employees are at risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens, training is not required.
For more detailed information, see Training Requirements in OSHA Standards at osha.gov. While this is OSHA’s most recent training publication (published in 2015), it does not include the walking-working surfaces standard; this information can be found in the table mentioned above.
As for general training, there is nothing specific required for new hires. However, while not legally required, you’ll want to take time to train new employees on the policies and procedures they need to know in order to make them feel welcome, integrate them into the organization, and help them to become productive more quickly.
