This would include the steps that employees are to follow if they discover any problems during the inspection (i.e., to whom they should report problems and where they can obtain replacement equipment if necessary). If an employer routinely has extensive inspections done by separate personnel. then the standard does not require that individual respirator wearers be trained how to do full inspections. Training the employees in only those parts of the inspection process that they are expected to do is sufficient. The training must also include the procedures for donning and removing the respirator, checking the fit and seals, and using the respirator.
Employees must be trained in how to check the respirator seal. Employers must train employees in the methods set forth in Appendix B or in alternative methods that are equally effective.
