What information is required when applying to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to register a pesticide?

The detailed requirements for the contents of a pesticide registration application are listed at 40 CFR 152.50.

Generally, the following information must be included:

• The application form,
• The identity of the applicant,
• A list of data submitted with a brief description of the results of the studies,
• The identity of the product,
• Draft labeling,
• Registration data requirements (including any known information regarding unreasonable adverse effects on human health or the environment),
• Certification relating to child-resistant packaging,
• A request for classification (if applicable), and
• A statement concerning tolerances (if applicable).

Additionally, applicants must pay a fee required by the Pesticide Registration Improvement Extension Act.

Keep in mind that an EPA company number must be assigned to the applicant first before registering a pesticide.
