The term “suitable” means that the compressor is capable of delivering a continuous supply of Grade D breathing air. On some compressors, especially those that are oil-lubricated, in-line sorbent beds and filters will need to be installed and maintained to ensure Grade D air. To further ensure breathing air quality, the air-purifying sorbent beds and filters must be changed according to the manufacturers’ instructions. Other compressors, such as some ambient air movers, may be capable of delivering Grade D air without the addition of sorbent beds and filters.
