OSHA’s standards on machine guarding do not mandate training requirements other than those specific to training for mechanical power press operators (see 1910.217(f)(2)) and forging machine operators see 1910.218(a)(2)(iii)). OSHA does not have a general standard on machine operation or machine operator training requirements.
Nonetheless, it is a good practice for an employer to ensure that employees have a thorough knowledge of how to inspect and operate the equipment they use on the job.
