Weigh2GoBC
British Columbia-based carriers are able to enroll in the province's "Weigh2GoBC" program. Weigh2GoBC is a voluntary system. The system works by allowing carriers to equip their trucks with a transponder that communicates carrier and truck information with certain inspection stations within the province. As long as a truck has visited one inspection station in British Columbia, the transponder notifies the driver with a green light if the truck can continue to travel without stopping at subsequent inspection stations (within the next 12 hours). If the driver is required to stop at the inspection station, the transponder will display a red light, meaning the driver must stop. Although the system is supposed to give a green light to trucks that have already visited inspection stations, the system may randomly select trucks for inspection.
Weigh2GoBC helps carriers and drivers save time and fuel, while also reducing emissions to the environment.
British Columbia-based carriers can register for Weigh2GoBC by visiting http://www.BCEID.ca and obtaining a "Business Level" user ID and password. Then, carriers must fax in the application form and follow the instructions for enrolling in Weigh2GoBC.
Once the application is approved, Weigh2GoBC will send transponders to the carrier. When the carrier receives the transponders, it must register them in the Weigh2GoBC Transponder Registry System. The system matches the transponder with the vehicle. Carriers must submit the transponder ID number, vehicle registration number, vehicle plate number, and a digital photo of the vehicle (visit http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/weigh2GoBC/samples.html for information on acceptable photos).
Weigh2GoBC transponders can be used in the PrePass system (not vice-versa). NORPASS transponders can be used with the Weigh2GoBC program.
Member's of Alberta's Partners in Compliance program are also able to participate in Weigh2GoBC.
