The Wage and Hour Division enforces laws covering state minimum wage and overtime requirements, working conditions, child labor, farm and forest labor contracting, and wage collection. The division also regulates the employment of workers on public works projects.
State Child Labor Laws: Oregon's Child Labor laws apply to the employment of minors under the age of 18. In general, a minor must be at least 14 years old to work in Oregon. There are strict limitations on the number of hours a minor may work and on the types of work permissible. In addition, Oregon employers who hire minors must apply for and obtain an Annual Employment Certificate from the Child Labor Unit of the Bureau of Labor and Industries.
Minors are no longer required to obtain work permits.
Rules regulating the employment of minors can be found at Title 839, Division 21 of the Oregon Administrative Rules
