The Georgia Department of Labor offers a wide range of services, which include finding jobs for people, job training, administration of the state's unemployment insurance trust fund, workplace safety inspections, and public awareness programs.
State Child Labor Laws: The Child Labor Section of the Georgia Department of Labor does the following:
- Reviews all Employment Certificates that have been issued to assure that job duties do not appear to be in violation of the law and that the form has been properly completed.
- Conducts inspections of possible law violations.
- Issues Certificates of Consent for minors in entertainment.
- Makes child labor presentations to schools, employers, etc.
- Provides Issuing Officers with blank Employment Certificates.

State Minimum Wage: $5.15 per hour. The State law is applicable to employers of six or more employees. It also excludes from coverage any employment that is subject to the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
