The Arizona Labor Department has three areas of authority:
- Resolution of wage disputes.
- Youth employment law enforcement.
- Licensing and regulating private employment agencies.
State Child Labor Laws: Arizona’s youth employment laws establish the hours youths can work and prohibit certain occupations in which they can be employed. Where there is a difference between federal and state youth employment law, the stricter law must be followed.
The Arizona youth employment requirements can be found in Title 23, Chapter 2, Article 3 of the Arizona Revised Statutes
State Minimum Wage: Effective January 1, 2018, Arizona's minimum wage is $10.50 per hour. The rate for tipped employees is no less than $3.00 per hour below the minimum wage. The rate will increase on January 1 of each year by the increase in the cost of living as measured by Consumer Price Index, with the amount of the minimum wage increase rounded to the nearest multiple of five cents.
The Arizona minimum wage requirements can be found in Title 23, Chapter 2, Article 8 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, §362 - 364
State Prevailing Wage: Arizona does not have a prevailing wage law; it was repealed in 1984.
