Under CFR 23 – Highways – Part 658 outlines regulations for Truck Size and Weight. Section 658.15 Width - reads that no state shall impose a width limitation of less than 102 inches on vehicles operating on the National Network. This means that all states must allow vehicles 102 inches wide to operate on interstate or designated highways in their state, but the state can and sometimes does set different restrictions when operating on other state supplemental roads.
NOTE: Under Section 658.16 Exclusions from Length and Width Determinations, and Appendix D to Part 658, there are certain components that are excluded by law or regulation from being included in the width measurement of a commercial motor vehicle.
