Dangerous goods transport
An agreement respecting administration of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, 1992 was signed by representatives of Transport Canada and the Province of Nova Scotia in 1994.
Responsibility for trucking in the province is split between two departments. Rulemaking and enforcement for vehicle compliance is contained in Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations (SNSMR) is responsible for administration and licensing. Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal is the agency for vehicle inspections and compliance, (902) 424-3602; SNSMR audits and enforces rules around inspection stations.
