Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
Employer defined
“Employer” means a person within the state who employs one or more employees for more than one quarter of the year and a person wherever situated who employs one or more employees whose services are to be partially or wholly performed in the state.
Unlawful employment practices
The unlawful employment practices are similar to those under the federal Guidelines on Discrimination Because of Sex. For example, the state law allows for holding employers responsible where they know or should have know of sexual harassment.
