Overview
Safety requirements for trucking are the responsibility of the Agency of Transportation, Department of Motor Vehicles.
Vermont has adopted the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) Regulations, Parts 40, 350, 360, 365, 372, 381-383, 385-388, 390 - 397, and 399 with subsequent amendments, with some modifications.
Applicability
The adopted regulations apply to vehicles operating intrastate with a gross vehicle weight or gross combination weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds or transporting hazardous materials requiring placarding.
