Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation has incorporated, by reference, Parts 40, 350-384, Section 385.4, and Parts 387-399 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, as amended by the Federal Register through June 22, 2023, with some exceptions. The adoption is effective February 7, 2024.

Applicability

This adoption applies to an intrastate commercial vehicle:

  • With a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), gross vehicle weight (GVW), gross combination weight rating (GCWR), or gross combination weight (GCW) of 26,001 or more pounds and is operated by an individual who is 18 years old or older;
  • With a GVWR or GCWR of 16,001 or more pounds if the vehicle is operated by an individual under 18-years old; or
  • Used to transport placardable hazardous materials.
