Overview
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is charged with the responsibility for administering, enforcing and amending rules and regulations relating to motor carrier safety. The Transportation Cabinet has adopted Parts 40, 382, 383, 384, 385, 390-393, 395-397, and 1572 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, insofar as they do not conflict with the laws of Kentucky. This adoption was effective August 3, 2021.
Applicability
The adopted regulations apply to all for-hire and private vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 10,001 pounds or more, or transporting hazardous materials which require placarding.
