Safety overview - Connecticut

The Department of Motor Vehicles and Department of Public Safety are responsible for trucking safety regulations in Connecticut. Parts 382, 383, 384, 385-387, 388, and 390-397 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations were incorporated by reference with subsequent amendments as they occur.

The adopted regulations apply to intrastate commercial motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating or gross vehicle weight or gross combination weight of 18,001 pounds or more, and to any size commercial motor vehicle transporting hazardous materials requiring placards.
