Michigan has adopted the accident recordkeeping requirements in Sec. 390.15 of the Federal Regulations.
Applicability
Section 390.15 applies to a vehicle or combination of vehicles, operating in intrastate commerce with a gross combination weight or gross combination weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more inclusive of a towed unit(s) with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of more than 10,000 pounds, whichever is greater; a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of 26,001 pounds or more, whichever is greater; or of any size and used in the transportation of hazardous materials.
Notification
The driver of every motor vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury or death of any person or total damage to all property to an apparent extent of $1,000 or more shall report the accident to the nearest or most convenient police station or police officer.

Procedure
A copy of an official accident report may be obtained from the Traffic Crash Purchasing System: http://mdotjboss.state.mi.us/TCPS/login/welcome.jsp.
Fee
$15.00 per report.
