Tennessee has adopted Sec. 390.15 of the Federal Regulations, which includes accident recordkeeping requirements.
Applicability
Section 390.15 applies to commercial motor vehicles operated in intrastate commerce to transport property that have a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, or a motor vehicle of any gross vehicle weight transporting hazardous materials.
Notification
If the accident involves personal injury, death, or property damage amounting to $400 or more, a written report must also be made to the Department of Safety within 20 days.
How to obtain accident reports
Procedure
A copy of an official accident report may be obtained by any of the parties involved by writing to the Department of Safety and sending the required fee or by visiting the Tennessee Highway Patrol District Office. Request should include the name(s) of the driver(s) involved, the date of the accident and the county in which the accident occurred.

Fee
A fee of $4.00 is charged for each copy and $10.00 per online request.
