A seven day trip permit (decal) is available only for intrastate authorities using a leased or rented vehicle.
Alabama law requires a vehicle registration number to be issued for a vehicle owned by the authorized company and the number is for the life of the vehicle and is non-transferable. The number is to be painted on the side of the vehicle. The trip permit, however, gives relief to the company by allowing it to be used in lieu of purchasing a permanent number. The decal is dated and placed on the front windshield.
There are no requirements for intrastate private carriers. Alabama does not issue trip permits for carriers subject to the UCR. All interstate carriers must register with the UCR.
Agency: Public Service Commission; see Regulatory Agencies for address(es).
Fees
$6 per decal (valid for 7 days)
