This standard covers fire safety for spray application of flammable or combustible materials, either continuously or intermittently, by use of compressed air, airless or hydraulic atomization, electrostatic, or other acceptable methods. Among other things, the standard requires that: Spray application operations and processes be confined to spray booths, spray rooms, or spray areas; A clear space of not less than 3 feet be maintained on all sides of the spray booth; Electrical wiring and other equipment used in or around spray operations meet the applicable requirements of NFPA 70 National Electrical Code.
