Summary of differences between federal and state regulations
The federal minimum wage provisions are contained in the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Many states also have minimum wage laws. In cases where an employee is subject to both the state and federal minimum wage laws, the employee is entitled to the higher of the two minimum wages.
Effective January 1, 2025, Arizona's minimum wage is $14.70 per hour. The minimum rate for tipped employees is $11.70 per hour.
Effective January 1, 2024, Arizona's minimum wage is $14.35 per hour. The minimum rate for tipped employees is $11.35 per hour.
Effective January 1, 2023, Arizona's minimum wage is $13.85 per hour. The minimum rate for tipped employees is $10.85, $3 below the minimum wage.
Since January 1, 2021, the rate increases on January 1 of each year by the increase in the cost of living as measured by Consumer Price Index, with the amount of the minimum wage increase rounded to the nearest multiple of five cents.
