OSHA requires under 1901.140(c)(18) that personal fall protection systems be inspected before initial use during each work shift for mildew, wear, damage and other deterioration. Defective system components must be removed from service.
Further, 1910.132(d) says that, “defective or damaged personal protective equipment shall not be used.”
