In addition to training employees to recognize the symptoms of cold stress, consider:
- Using the buddy system (having employees work in pairs);
- Scheduling frequent, short breaks in warm, dry areas;
- Scheduling work during the warmest part of the day;
- Providing warm beverages; and
- Providing engineering controls such as radiant heaters.
