Connecticut has adopted Part 395 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), by reference with subsequent amendments as they occur.
Part 395 applies to intrastate commercial motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating or gross vehicle weight or gross combination weight of 18,001 pounds or more, and to any size commercial motor vehicle transporting hazardous materials requiring placards.
Exception: Operators of intrastate vehicles that are commercially registered may be continuously on-duty (both driving and not driving) for 12 hours before having 8 consecutive hours of off-duty time. After 16 hours of on-duty time in any 24-hour period, no driver may operate a commercial motor vehicle until he/she has had at least 10 consecutive hours off duty.
Electronic logging device (ELD)
Connecticut has adopted the electronic logging device (ELD) requirements in Part 395 for intrastate motor carriers and drivers.
