Federal regulations
Wisconsin has adopted Part 392 of the Federal Regulations with the exception of Sec. 392.16 (use of seatbelts). The Wisconsin seatbelt provisions are found in Wis. Statute S. 347.48.
Applicability
Part 392 applies to any self-propelled or towed motor vehicle used on a highway in intrastate commerce when the vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 10,001 pounds or more, or is of any size transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials.
Speed limit
The speed limit is 70 mph on interstates, freeways, and expressways (where posted), and 65 mph on expressways (where posted). On two-lane highways the speed limit is 55 mph or as posted.
