Federal regulations
Utah has adopted Part 392 of the Federal Regulations.
Applicability
Part 392 applies to an intrastate commercial vehicle:
- With a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), gross vehicle weight (GVW), gross combination weight rating (GCWR), or gross combination weight (GCW) of 26,001 or more pounds and is operated by an individual who is 18 years old or older;
- With a GVWR or GCWR of 16,001 or more pounds if the vehicle is operated by an individual under 18-years old; or
- Used to transport placardable hazardous materials.
Speed limit
75 mph to 80 mph as posted on sections of rural interstates, 65 mph on other highways, unless posted otherwise or conditions dictate slower speeds, or if dictated as a maximum speed restriction on the special permit.
