Federal regulations

Texas has adopted Part 392 of the Federal Regulations.

Applicability

Part 392 applies to a vehicle or combination of vehicles with an actual gross weight or a gross weight rating in excess of 26,000 pounds when operating intrastate, and a vehicle of any size hauling hazardous materials requiring placarding.

Speed limit

The speed limit is 75 to 85 mph on specified segments of highway when posted, 70 mph outside an urban area.
