Federal regulations
Ohio has adopted Part 392 of the Federal Regulations.
Applicability
Part 392 applies to vehicles operated by for-hire carriers with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating, or gross vehicle weight or gross combination weight of 10,001 pounds or more (whichever is greater).
Part 392 applies to vehicles operated by private carriers with a gross combination weight rating or gross combination weight of 26,001 pounds or more, whichever is greater, inclusive of a towed unit(s) with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of more than 10,000 pounds, or a single vehicle operated by a private carrier with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of 26,001 pounds or more.
Part 392 also applies to any size vehicle (for-hire or private) transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials.
Speed limit
The speed limit is 70 mph on the Ohio Turnpike and certain sections of interstate highways (as posted).
