Federal regulations
Montana has adopted Part 392 of the Federal Regulations.
Applicability
Part 392 applies to intrastate operation of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 26,001 or more pounds, or vehicles used to transport hazardous materials of a type or quantity that require the vehicle to be placarded.
Speed limit
Trucks or truck-tractors of more than one ton manufacturer’s rated capacity are limited to 70 mph on rural interstates. On other highways, 65 mph or as posted.
