Mississippi has adopted Part 392 of the Federal Regulations.
Applicability
Part 392 applies to commercial motor vehicles operated in intrastate commerce with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, or vehicles transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials.
Speed limit
Truck speed limits in Mississippi are 70 mph on rural interstates, 65 mph on 4-lane highways, and 55 mph on all other highways unless otherwise posted.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Department of Public Safety has adopted Part 392 of the Federal Regulations. The Public Service Commission has regulations that are similar to the Federal Regulations.
Applicability
Under the Department of Public Safety adoption, Part 392 applies to intrastate commercial motor vehicles 26,001 pounds or more, or vehicles of any size which transport a placardable amount of hazardous materials.
Speed limit
The speed limit is 70 mph on rural interstates, 65 mph on selected 4-lane highways, and the posted speed on urban and 2-lane highways.

Part 392 applies to a self-propelled or towed vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 14,000 pounds or more, or is used to transport hazardous materials.

The speed limit is 65 mph or as posted.
