Iowa has adopted Part 392 of the Federal Regulations
Applicability
Part 392 applies to motor vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight, gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight, or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more, or hauling hazardous materials required to be placarded.
Part 392 does not apply to combination vehicles provided the gross vehicle weight rating of the power unit is 10,000 pounds or less and the gross combination weight rating is 26,000 pounds or less.
Speed limit
The speed limit is 70 mph on interstate roads, 65 mph on fully controlled-access, divided, multi-laned highways, and 55 mph on other highways (or as posted).
