Yes. According to 1910.145(c), “All employees shall be instructed that danger signs indicate immediate danger and that special precautions are necessary ... All employees shall be instructed that caution signs indicate a possible hazard against which proper precaution should be taken.”
According to 1910.1200(h)(3)(iv), “Employee training shall include at least ... The details of the hazard communication program developed by the employer, including an explanation of the labeling system and the material safety data sheet, and how employees can obtain and use the appropriate hazard information.”
According to 1910.1030(g), “The [bloodborne pathogens] training shall contain at a minimum the following elements: ... An explanation of the signs and labels and/or color coding required by paragraph (g)(1) ...”
Other regulations may also call for employers to train employees in signs, labels, and other markings.
