Do we have to assess our facility for fall hazards?
Yes. Employers are required to assess their workplace in accordance with 1910.132(d), “Hazard assessment and equipment selection,” and (f), “Training.” This hazard assessment of the workplace must be conducted to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which would necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). PPE would include those options outlined in 1910.140, “Personal fall protection systems.”
